Yoga no cost health booster: Padma Shri Dr BKS Sanjay

Dehradun (VON NEWS )21st June 2025, Dehradun!* On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a yoga program was organized by Sanjay Orthopedic Spine and Maternity Center, Dehradun. The objective of the event was to raise public awareness about the health benefits of yoga and to inspire people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. Yoga instructor Priya guided the participants through various yoga postures, breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation methods.

Doctors, nursing staff, and other participants from the hospital enthusiastically took part in the yoga session. Orthopaedic and spine surgeon Padma Shri awardee Dr. B.K.S. Sanjay emphasized the importance of yoga for a healthy and happy life. He stated that, in addition to food, exercise, work, and sleep, practicing yoga regularly for 30 minutes to an hour is highly beneficial for maintaining health and well-being. He added that yoga not only helps in improving physical health but is also an effective tool for stress management, as proven by several biofeedback studies. Dr. Sanjay, urged everyone to make yoga a daily habit, as it is a health-promoting system that comes at no cost.

Gynecologist and obstetrician Dr. Sujata Sanjay stated that to maintain physical, mental, social, psychological, and spiritual health, everyone should adopt the practice of yoga and pranayama in their lifestyle, regardless of caste, creed, region, or religion. Orthopedic and spine surgeon Dr. Gaurav Sanjay noted that yoga makes our bodies flexible. In today’s time, when we spend hours in front of computers or driving, stiffness, back pain, and joint problems have become common. Yoga is highly effective in relieving such issues. With regular practice, the body feels lighter, more balanced, and active.
