Major General MPS Gill Assumes Command Of Uttarakhand Sub-Area

DEHRADUN: Major General (Maj Gen) MPS Gill assumed the command of the Uttarakhand sub-area as its general officer commanding, succeeding Maj Gen R Prem Raj on Monday in Dehradun.

An alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy, Maj Gen Gill was commissioned into the 18 Mechanised Infantry on 16 December 1989.

During his tenure so far, he has commanded both a Mechanised Infantry Battalion and an armoured brigade on the western front.

He has also held several key staff and instructional appointments, including Director in the Military Operations Directorate, New Delhi, Brigadier General Staff at the Army Training Command headquarters, Chief of Staff of a Strike Corps; and Additional Director General (Vigilance) in the Chief of Army Staff’s Secretariat.

Maj Gen Gill also played a pivotal role in establishing the perception management

directorate at the headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff. He has also completed several premier military courses, including the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington; the higher command course at the Army War College, Mhow and the National Defence College (Foreign), Bangladesh.
