Uttarakhand Samanta Party Seeks Fast-Track Justice in Dehradun Killing of Tripura Student

The Uttarakhand Samanta Party has raised serious concerns over law and order in Dehradun following the alleged brutal killing of Anjel Chakma, a student from Tripura. In a strongly worded letter addressed to Pushkar Singh Dhami, the party demanded swift justice, immediate arrest of the accused, and compensation for the victim’s family.

The letter, signed by party president Dr. VK Bahuguna, described the incident as shameful and brutal, alleging that the victim was attacked by drunken hooligans who also hurled racial slurs before killing him. Terming the incident a blot on the image of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, the party said such acts are deeply disturbing, particularly in a city that hosts thousands of students from the North Eastern states.

According to the communication, the main accused has reportedly fled to Nepal, and the party urged the state government to ensure early arrest through coordinated action. The letter further stated that incidents of violence, harassment, and racial abuse against students are increasing in Dehradun, reflecting a deterioration of law and order.

The Uttarakhand Samanta Party blamed lax monitoring by police and hostel authorities, alleging that miscreants roam freely, indulge in excessive drinking, and create unsafe conditions, especially during night hours. It called for fast-track judicial proceedings to ensure deterrence and prevent recurrence of such crimes.

The party also appealed to the Chief Minister to award adequate compensation to the bereaved family and to strengthen security arrangements for students from Tripura and other North Eastern states studying in Uttarakhand.

The incident has once again brought into focus concerns over student safety, racial discrimination, and accountability, with growing demands for decisive government action to restore confidence among students and their families.
