IAS–IPS–IFS Promotions Cleared; Transfers & Reposting Expected Next

Uttarakhand’s administrative restructuring has formally begun with the approval of major promotions across IAS, IPS, and IFS cadres, even as larger transfers and repostings are expected shortly after the New Year.

According to official information, eight IAS officers have been promoted to the rank of Secretary, nine IPS officers elevated to higher police ranks, and grade promotions approved in the IFS cadre. Senior officials confirm that this is only the first phase of a broader administrative exercise, with further reshuffles likely in the coming days.

Promotions Approved by DPC Headed by Chief Secretary

The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) for IAS and IPS officers met under the chairmanship of Anand Bardhan clearing promotions effective from January 1.

The IFS DPC meeting is scheduled separately.

Sources describe the move as a planned, phased administrative reset, beginning with promotions and expected to be followed by transfers, repostings, and realignment of key departments.

Eight IAS Officers Promoted to Secretary Rank

The following 2010-batch IAS officers have been promoted as Secretaries:

  • Dr. Ahmed Iqbal
  • Eva Srivastava (on Central deputation – proforma promotion)
  • Sonika
  • Ranjana Rajguru
  • Anand Swaroop
  • Dev Krishna Tiwari
  • Umesh Narayan Pandey
  • Rajendra Kumar

Five IAS Officers Granted Selection Grade

The following IAS officers have been granted Selection Grade (Level-12 to Level-13):

  • Mayur Dixit
  • Vandana
  • Vineet Kumar
  • Reena Joshi
  • Anand Srivastava

Nine IPS Officers Elevated to Higher Ranks

Promotions approved in the IPS cadre include:

  • Abhinav Kumar – ADG to DG
  • Nivedita Kukreti – DIG to IG
  • Prahlad Meena – SSP to DIG
  • Barinderjeet Singh – DIG to IG (Proforma promotion on deputation)
  • P. Renuka Devi – DIG to IG (Proforma promotion on deputation)
  • Preeti Priyadarshini – SSP to DIG
  • Yashwant Chauhan – SSP to DIG
  • Tripti Bhatt – SP to SSP
  • Ramchandra Rajguru – SP to SSP

Additionally, IPS officer Arpan Yaduvanshi has been granted Selection Grade. Earlier, Nisha Yadav and Jitendra Chauhan had already been promoted to the rank of SP.

IFS Cadre Promotions Also Cleared

In the Indian Forest Service (IFS) cadre:

  • Five officers have been promoted to Junior Administrative Grade (JAG)
  • Three officers have been promoted to Senior Grade

Transfers & Reposting Expected Next

Sources within the administration indicate that these promotions will be followed by a wider reshuffle of postings, affecting:

  • District administrations
  • Police leadership
  • Key departments such as Home, Revenue, Health, Urban Development, and Infrastructure

Officials say the government is preparing to realign senior officers with priority governance areas, suggesting that transfer orders may follow soon after the New Year.
