Coronavirus outbreak has no impact on Indian Economy: Anurag Thakur

New Delhi– While the whole world is on hold and facing a downfall in the economy amid coronavirus outbreak, the Minister of State Finance of India, Anurag Thakur, on Tuesday stated that latest data on trade and indicators of domestic output do not suggest any impact on the Indian Economy due to COVID-19.

In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, the MoS said, “As is true for the world at large, India’s near term macroeconomics outlook also vulnerable to disruption of trade with China and second-round effects arising from an expected slowdown in global growth. However, the latest data available on trade and indicators of domestic output do not suggest any impact on the Indian Economy.”

“Additionally, a positive impact on India’s economy may arise from a decline in global oil prices triggered by the outbreak of COVID-19.” he further added.

While on the other hand, the Congress leader, on Tuesday, predicted that “India will face Economic devastation.”

The statement given by the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was swiped away by the Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday. He said “Gandhi was ever in doubt-be it inside the parliament or outside it, Gandhi claimed that he was not an expert on the issue but still was continuously commenting on it.”

The MoS later than advised Rahul Gandhi to thank the doctors, health officials who are fighting against Coronavirus.
